Administrative Police

Police Ordinances

More and more frequently, the municipal administration is confronted with problems relating to parking and the circulation of vehicles in our community. This has followed requests, as of late, from various entrepreneurs, individuals, committees, and others who wish to occupy part of the public roadway.

This being the case, let us allow ourselves to remind you of Articles 2 and 4 of the general police regulation:

Article 2: Any open-air demonstration or event on public or private grounds as well as any gathering, with or without a vehicle, which obstructs or damages the public roadways or reduces the convenience and safety of traffic must have prior written authorization by the mayor.

Article 4: A request for authorization and prior notification must be addressed in writing to the mayor no more than 20 calendar days before the day of the event.

If you must carry out construction projects at your house or at another place (moving, roof work, work on the facade, tree pruning, etc.) and you are occupying a portion of the public roadway, you must apply for police authorization.

ATTENTION: For requests concerning the installation of a container, you must address your application to the administrative projects department, attention:

Collections-Raffles

Occasional sale, not commercial in character (sales known as “philanthropic”)

Sales transactions with a philanthropic goal organized by various local associations are mentioned in the regulation on travelling activities. This regulation excludes these types of activities from its field of application. The management of these sales was partially decentralized towards the municipality. Thus, if the sale is limited to the territory of a single municipality, the mayor is in charge of whether or not to authorize the activity.

ATTENTION: If the salespeople go door to door to sell objects for such associations, be very careful because many people are taken advantage of financially without knowing it.
